On January 21st 2010, Surface to Air has open its newest and most extraordinary retail store on Paris’ rue Vieille du Temple in the fashionable Marais district. It will be the foundation of our international retail development.
Designed by S2A’s creative team in collaboration with architectural mastermind Federico Masotto, the new Surface to Air store is their most architecturally innovative yet, featuring sparkling concrete, marquina marble, moving panels and trompe l’oeil floorings. The architecture of the location was completed with structured, new age furniture designed by Federico and executed by Paolo Vale. Simon Louchet Decoration, who transformed Masotto’s vision into reality were the head contractors on this project.
The wall décor in the store is homage to the S2A directed video of Midnight Juggernauts filmed in 2008. The images of the video are the inspiration, with photographs ranging from scenic backdrops of the Pyrenées mountains to fire, explosives, precious stones and rocky ravines.
The 150m2 space will continue to carry the full men’s & women’s ready-to-wear collections, shoes and accessories. The store will also feature the first in a series of ‘shop-in-shops’. The avant-garde designers Bless unveil this space.
As art has always carried a special place in heart of Surface to Air, we will host a gallery space where inspiring, forward thinking and up & coming artists will present throughout the year. We will be kicking off the inauguration with the exhibit “Acid Drop” by Kenneth Cappello, an old friend who exhibited back in the day at their iconic store on rue de l’Arbre Sec.
Pop in and say hello!
