It seems like cars are an endless source of inspiration for our good friend Kavinsky. Charlotte from Surface to Air Studio designed the « Outrun » album cover featuring the man himself standing next to a red beauty.

JUSTICE “HELIX” SINGLE COVER

Surface to Air Studio strikes again with the latest cover of Justice’s Helix, a five-track EP. After the Easter Islands, a shield, outer space, a marble quarry, the eternal Justice cross is now featured on an old stamp (we consequently developed a worrying passion for philately). The EP will include two unreleased remixes of the title track and will be out on January 8th. An excellent way to start the New Year.

KAVINSKY “PROTOVISION” SINGLE COVER

Inspired by 80’s horror films atmosphere – nocturnal, cold, wet – and their screen slitting titles, Surface to Air Studio is presenting its latest production for Kavinsky’s first single cover, “Protovision”. The picture shows Kavinsky lighting his inseparable cigarette before the city lights on a rainy night, preparing himself to what we can imagine as being a late-night saga. His album “Outrun” will be out in 2013. We will be quite restless till then, but in the meantime, stay tuned for some more album and singles artwork.

Our latest film for Louis Vuitton “Haute Joaillerie”. Directed by Jérémie Rozan, Surface to Air studio.

A vintage Limousine slowly enters what appears to be a mysterious futuristic installation that emerges out of the desert…

This is the starting point of a hypnotic journey, an initiation through time and space to Louis Vuitton’s new collection. High Jewellery becomes an extra-sensorial experience through the kaleidoscope of the Monogram, the jewel as a talisman that bridges the past and the future. For Louis Vuitton, director Jérémie Rozan sends model Alana Zimmer to a universe between High Jewellery and science fiction.

Bruno Schmeltz Tribute

We would like to pay tribute to french artist Bruno Schmeltz who inspired the last cover we produced for Justice’s single “On n’ On” (late 2011) and for the Midnight Juggernauts video “Into the galaxy” (2010) by sharing with you some of his work we admire the most.

Uncle Bruno Schmeltz has always been a source of ideas at Surface to Air Studio. Father of Jeremie Rozan’s cousin and collaborator Martial Schmeltz, Bruno has been in the french Pyrenees forever. His hyperrealistic surrealism painting talks to us about a lost paradise, a bucolic beauty, an artificial nature and is truly fascinating work.
